Rick Ross - "Black Market" Album Cover Re-Design

This is an album cover I created For Rick Ross "Black Market" album cover. Its not the official cover of course but I just wanted to create my own version for fun. I used Adobe Photoshop and my Wacom Cintiq tablet.

Rick Ross dropped the Black Dollar mixtape and I wanted to Re-design the cover but I figured since he was already coming out with a new album called "Black Market" I might aswell just go ahead and create a design for it instead.

On the mixtape Ross talked about growing up in poverty, becoming wealthy and preserving black wealth for the next generation. So the building over his head is actually from the original black wall street fire bombing that happened in Tulsa Oklahoma 1921. On the side you'll see a Maybach car, a mansion and a boy with his eyes closed dreaming for more. I wanted to show the transition from the events that happened in Tulsa to today, where Ross was able to become wealthy in America from poverty.

I added the Black dollars because the mixtape title was called "Black Dollar" plus I thought it would make sense since the album title was called "Black Market" which is closely related. Also it can be used as an symbol for black wealth because obviously the dollars are literally black.

For the Design I wanted to keep it dark and unsaturated. I used many textures and kept it high contrast.
